Rachel Rekowski is an associate attorney at HSGLaW, where she works to protect and advance the rights of unions and workers before courts, arbitrators, and administrative agencies. She has experience representing unions in litigation under the National Labor Relations Act and the Railway Labor Act. Her passion for the labor movement began with a defining moment—being arrested alongside over 100 workers and union leaders during an act of civil disobedience as part of a union campaign in Las Vegas. That experience solidified a lifelong commitment to the fight for workers’ rights and dignity on the job.
Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Rekowski spent nearly a decade working in the labor movement. She began her career at the Culinary Workers Union, Local 226, where she witnessed firsthand how collective action transforms lives. In 2015, she joined the AFL-CIO, working with state federations, labor councils, and affiliates across the country to defeat anti-worker legislation, elect pro-worker candidates, and plan major organizing campaigns. As a communications strategist, she helped center workers’ stories in national and local media. One of her proudest achievements was helping Missouri unions defeat right-to-work legislation in 2018. Throughout law school, she continued her advocacy for workers as a communications consultant for the Indiana AFL-CIO.
Ms. Rekowski earned her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022, graduating in the top five of her class. While in law school, she sharpened her appellate advocacy through Moot Court, finishing as national runner-up in the 2022 Wagner National Labor & Employment Moot Court Competition.
Originally from Fishers, Indiana, Ms. Rekowski has lived and worked in cities across the country, including Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Austin, and Philadelphia. Outside of work, she enjoys running half marathons, traveling, hiking, reading with her book clubs, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Xavier University basketball.
